ABOUT THE HOTEL

With three courses between 15 and 45 minutes away, Hostellerie de l’Abbaye de la Celle is your chance to sample Alain Ducasse away from the Paris prices. Chef Ducasse has more Michelin stars than any chef in the world and he owns this gorgeous boutique hotel. Don’t expect luxury or silly prices though, this is hospitality as chef sees it: homely, natural and spacious.

All 10 bedrooms are classically beautiful and are in the main manor or annexe. Eating in any of the three dining rooms is nearly as enjoyable as eating on the terrace under the shade of the elms and cypresses. The menu changes daily and uses as much as possible of the hotel’s own garden produce as possible. Michelin-starred, the menus start at just €40 for a two course lunch…Delicious in every respect.

The gardens provide a lovely walk and there’s a good pool as well. Another novelty at Hostellerie de l’Abbaye de la Celle is the vineyard which grows 88 different grape varieties, all irrigated from natural fountains.

With the two highly-rated courses of Barbaroux and Saint Endreol as well as the pretty Sainte Baume nearby, Abbaye de la Celle is a surprisingly good base for a real golf holiday as well as some glorious lazy days.
