The Ailsa Course is deservedly listed among the very best courses in the world.

The opening is fairly tough - particularly when the wind blows from the direction of Ailsa Craig. From the short fourth, seven holes follow the shoreline, rocks and dunes and your links game must be on song with strong drives and punched approaches.

The ninth is Turnberry's signature hole where the remote tee is set right on the edge of the sea. You have to drive across the corner of the bay and can see the site of Bruce's Castle (Robert the Bruce, Scottish King, 1306-1329). The back nine continues the theme of wonderful holes, demanding golf and sensational scenery…Par in from the 15th and you deserve one of the finest whiskies in the top-notch clubhouse.
