Golf des Aisses is coming of age. It’s always been a pretty course but condition and service was erratic. That’s all changed with some serious investment and it’s now one of the best and prettiest golf courses we’ve played in long time.

Of the original nine-hole loops of Blue, Red and White, only the Blue remains relatively untouched but even that has been tweaked and the condition is top-notch. The Red and White have been completely rebuilt to USGA standards by Martin Hawtree - arguably the “in” architect of the moment with his Donald Trump project near Aberdeen.

Les Aisses resembles Sunningdale and Morfontaine: cut out of ancient woodland with generous fairways with sculpted grass-faced bunkers and large greens, it’s a real gem and comes highly recommended. The Red and Blue course are open for play from June 2010 and the White course opens in June 2011. This is going to be a gem of a golf destination, backed by charming service and an authentic “golf, golf, golf” feel!
