ABOUT THE GOLF COURSE

Fontainebleau is a wonderful Tom Simpson golf course south of Paris. The course has extremely crafty and fast greens and sensational views from many of the tees. It thoroughly deserves its European Top Ten ranking.

The fairways are quite generous if the giant pines and oaks don’t overwhelm your vision and the greens are very well-protected.  The bunkers are placed for any slightly wayward approaches and they are often deep and the sand is heavy. The fairways are lush but becoming crisper now that the club is re-introducing shorter grass so that the course becomes more ecological. Another “green” measure is the grazing of sheep in some of the woods between the fairways.

The entrance to Fontainebleau Golf Club is deliberately low key, once you leave the car park and look past the ninth green and head up to the clubhouse, you know you’re in for a treat.  A private yet welcoming club with friendly members and a great bar and kitchen team.

Please kindly note that there are no buggies available at this course.
