French Golf Holidays

Normandy is just about to hit the big time again with Flybe offering four flights a week from Bournemouth to Deauville between May 18 and September 2, three flights a week from Birmingham and two from Exeter – both between June 22 and September 26.  And London is not forgotten with Ryanair flying twice a week from April 3 to early October from Stansted.  Brittany Ferries have increased their sailing schedule into Le Havre too.  It’s all go to Normandy!

Honfleur is becoming more and more of a artistic and scientific paradise with renovated and new museums such as the Eugene Boudin impressionist museum and the Maison Satie dedicated the audio experimentalist who died 90 years ago.

Beyond Honfleur there is a glut of unspoilt villages and farm buildings before reaching fashionable Deauville and then you come across some delightful beach towns such as Cabourg and Houlgate and then comes Caen and the Normandy Landing Beaches with their incredible presentations of June 6, 1944.  The Overlord Museum is the best of the most recent additions – opened in 2013, it features countless objects of the landings found between 1944 and 1985.

Inland from the Beaches, Bayeux Tapestry is a sight to behold and William the Conqueror’s castle at Falaise with its secret galleries and ramparts will fascinate.
